We started looking at Kinfolk because the tool we had was very rigid. It was quite complicated to use and expensive because of the way it was priced. So it was stopping innovation in our employee experience.

Whereas with Kinfolk, it’s a really affordable way to enhance the employee experience, it’s flexible and easy to use—so it’s taken up my team’s time, anyone can pick it up, and doesn’t need loads of training. The implementation was very simple and straightforward for us.

The efficiency gains have been really good. I’ve also seen some great feedback from our people and I know our line managers are happy with it too, which is very important. Also it’s been really useful for us to think about what other processes we can improve. 

Beyond onboarding, we’ve used it for some things that just have to be done, but would’ve been very manual before. Like capturing commuting data from employees to measure our commitment to carbon reduction. Last year that took up a lot of time.

We’re now going to look at parental leave, off-boarding, promotions including new managers, development journeys, and sharing information across someone's lifecycle. For instance, we have a lot of benefits, and now we can raise more awareness through the year of the different types of benefits we have.
